Fort Collins Foxes

As I mentioned in my previous post, on Sunday we went to City Park Pool in the afternoon.  While there, we decided to check out a Fort Collins Foxes baseball game.  The field, known as the Fox Den, is a short walk from the pool parking area and across the street from the City Park playground.

The Foxes are a member team of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League, a wooden bat summer collegiate league.  They play local teams from Greeley, Cheyenne and Laramie, among others.  Each home game has some kind of promotion or giveaway and there are often local groups honored.  The game we attended had 2 Cub Scout packs and the Zach Foxes baseball team; the kids presented the flag for the national anthem and one of the Zach Foxes threw out the first pitch.  The Foxes also host birthday parties and other group events and offer a summer clinic for kids.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 5-14 and adults 65 and over, and children 4 and under and those with active military IDs are free.  If you would rather sit in the outfield there’s plenty of grassy areas along the third base line, just bring camping chairs or a blanket and a glove to catch a foul ball. Most games start at 6:15, with a select few at 12 noon or 1pm.  The remaining games this season are all 6:15 games.

Each game is catered by one of three local business – Famous Dave’s, Culver’s or Jason’s Deli provide the food at each home game.  There’s also a concession stand, selling peanuts, Cracker Jacks and a small selection of candy and drinks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening with the Fort Collins Foxes.  If you want to take in a ball game but don’t want to pay MLB prices or drive all the way to Denver and want to let your kids run around chasing foul balls and playing catch, then the Foxes are the way to go.

  1. Hi! I just happened upon this site today whilst searching for some different physical fitness terms in yahoo. Stayed around a bit to take a look around and browse a number of your posts… good stuff. I’ll be returning around once again later on without a doubt.
